Black. It is one of my favorite colors (or is it a non-color?!) The mood it sets, the contrast it creates… it just gives me all the feels, okay!?
Upon moving into our home, I knew the minute I laid eyes on our dining room with its bland walls, brass chandelier, white marble table and surplus of sunlight that it had to be black. It took a while to convince my husband – I am talking numerous Pinterest images to show him how well it can be executed. Needless to say, I won. And he loves it now too! I consider this room truly neutral, and don’t feel limited when it comes to bringing in any kinds of color. It’s a perfect canvas for that colorful dinner party, that BoHo themed birthday, taco night or perfect as is. We added trim work to all the walls which is really what adds to the drama of the room – creating texture and depth when there is none really elevates any space. We utilized the same chandelier (just replaced the candle covers) and reupholstered the chairs with a playful pattern. The white marble table came with the home, and is the perfect pop of white in the dark space… it reflects the sunlight so well and anchors the room. Adding our fiddle leaf figs, an area rug, velvet curtains and a bar cart was all that was needed to tie together the room. We truly paid close attention to detail because if you are going to go bold, then you got to go all in! As always, sources for all items can be found at the bottom of the post!
